Almost one year has passed since the visit of official delegation from Ostrow Wielkopolski to Lviv. Now it was time for our return visit to Poland. The delegation consisted of PO “Karpaty” leaders, football supporters, officials from the Lviv City Council and the Head of the City Council’s Commission on Youth and Sport Affairs Mr Yuriy Kardashevskyy, altogether 13 persons.
Apart from discussing common achievements with respect to EURO 2012 and within the framework of the “Eurofan” project, other goals of visit included acquainting with sportive infrastructure of Ostrow Wielkopolski and playing a friendly football match against the Polish side consisting of local football fans.
The Ukrainian delegation stayed at the hotel “Polonia” situated right in the centre of the city. The next day after arrival everyone headed for a meeting in the City Council (by the way the new City Council is located in a modern building quite far from the city centre, instead the old building of the City Council nowadays houses the City museum and a restaurant).
After discussions about the “Eurofan” project and other issues, we went to one of schools in order to take part in a celebration program and the football match. Our team played against young guys - supporters of the local football club “Ostrovia”. The Polish dominated throughout all game but the final result was 1-1 – a friendly draw suitable for both sides. After the match all participants had an opportunity to watch a basketball game of the Polish basketball First division, in which local team took on neighbors from Poznan. So we enjoyed the local derby and were amazed at the atmosphere in the Sports Hall full of supporting people.
The next day the Mayor of Ostrow Wielkopolski Mr.Torzyński organized for us an excursion around the city with visiting newly built comfortable and capacious sports halls in different schools. Also we visited beautiful amusement park full of attractions and recreational facilities and a flying field (one of two such fields in Poland).
We all had a very good time in Ostrow Wielkopolski and we are really grateful to our Polish partners and friends for warm reception.
Now it is time to get back to work in our cities and we will keep on achieving our mutual goals. |
